Welcome to the Back To the Future V installation tutorial.
To proceed, you will need:
Step 1) Starting off
MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A STOCK, LEGAL COPY OF GTA V!!!
It is recommended to have clean install so there are no issues installing BTTFV and no conflicts with other mods. INSTALLING MODS OTHER THAN BTTFV IS DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
NOTE: If you have used BTTFV or any other mods with a previous version of GTA V, you may need to copy update.rpf and update2.rpf from the updates folder to the mods\updates folder. This is because newer versions of GTA V often update critical parts of these files, and the “mods” version does not get automatically updated by OpenIV to match. If your game still crashes after following this tutorial, please copy update.rpf and update2.rpf from updates to mods\updates and then follow the entire tutorial over again from Step 2.
Step 1) Installing OpenIV
If you have not yet installed OpenIV, please follow the instructions below. If you have already have OpenIV installed, please skip to Step 2.
- Download OpenIV from the link above.
- Run the installer.
Step 2) Installing BTTFV
Please run the BTTFV Automatic Installer that you downloaded earlier and follow the prompts in the installer.
If you get a warning about the file being unsafe, click the More Info link then click the Run Anyway button. This prompt occurs because we do not pay Microsoft $266 every single year in ransom money. The installer is perfectly safe.
Please note that the installer requires an active internet connection to function correctly. If the installer warns you that it cannot connect to the internet, please be sure you have unblocked the installer in your antivirus or firewall software.
If done correctly you’ll now have BTTFV installed to your mods folder.
